Financial assistance/reimbursements:
There are several sources for funding assistance, financial reimbursements, and/or tax credits for accessible vehicles. Some sources of assistance include various Provincial agencies, the Federal Government and some vehicle manufacturers. We recommend that you contact these agencies to enquire about their policies and procedures before completing any modifications.
Alberta:
Government of Alberta Disability Related Employment Supports
Disability Related Employment Supports (DRES) provides assistance to Albertans in overcoming the barriers to employment created by their disability.

The Alberta SCI Solutions Alliance (AB SCI SA) is a provincial network of individuals and organizations passionate about making a positive difference for Albertans living with spinal cord injury (SCI). Comprised of people with SCI, service providers, researchers, health care practitioners and others, the AB SCI SA works at local, regional and provincial levels to identify needs and facilitate the delivery of customized solutions, from point of injury to full community participation.

New Brunswick
The Vehicle Retrofit Program is designed to increase the mobility of persons with a disability residing in the province of New Brunswick by providing financial assistance towards the cost of supplying and installing eligible retrofitting and accessibility features for vehicles. Grants are available to eligible applicants up to 80% of the first $5625 and 50% of the next $7000 towards the cost of eligible accessibility features for a new or existing vehicle, up to a maximum grant amount of $8000. Taxes are the responsibility of the applicant. Sales tax on some accessibility features may be rebated by the Department of Finance, Province of New Brunswick.

The Home and Vehicle Modification Program (HVMP) provides financial assistance to Ontario residents with disabilities who require modifications to a home or vehicle. Funded by the Ontario government and delivered by Ontario March of Dimes, the program helps people enjoy greater mobility and independence by providing up to $15,000 towards these modification costs

The Federal Government
With the introduction of the HST tax on accessible vehicle purchases has actually been simplified and reduced! In the past we had to charge PST on any permanent modifications that we made to vehicles such as lowered floors and raised roofs. Under current regulations these modifications are now exempt.
